PCSO Maiden Race, MARHO Races
PCSO will be holding a Special Maiden Race for 2YO on November 23 at Metro Manila Turf Club over 1,400 meters featuring thirteen runners.
Here’s the lineup, in post-position order:
William Kramer’s filly Bacolod Princess with jockey Val Dilema, Benedicto Masilungan’s colt Dusty Jewel (John Alvin Guce), Mayor Sandy Javier’s filly Kaiserslautern (Mark Alvarez), Cesar Remolona Jr.’s filly Sharp Look (RO Niu Jr.), RMJ Aquatic’s colt Director’s Bet (Antonio Alcasid Jr.), Mayor Benhur Abalos’s filly Rock Shadow (Jonathan Hernandez);
Genaro Rojas’s colt Lucky (Miles Pilapil), Herminio Esguerra’s filly Love Na Love (Jeffril Zarate), Rafael Abacan’s filly Bahay Toro (Norberto Calingasan), Ochie Santos’s colt Satin Lace (DH Borbe Jr.), Narciso Morales’s colt Apache Gang (DL Camañero), Ferdinand Dimaisip’s colt Hansel (Jesse Guce) and Wilbert Tan’s colt Sinulog (Christopher Garganta).
Handicapping is set weight, as usual for PCSO Special Maiden races, with fillies to carry 52 kgs. and colts 54 kgs.
In the trial race held November 8, Love Na Love came in first, followed closely by Kaiserslautern (both clocking 1:26), followed on their heels by Rock Shadow, Satin Lace, and Bacolod Princess. For purposes of handicapping, it’s useful to know the first five placers when making choices before the actual race.

This year’s celebration of the MARHO Championships will be low-key and scaled down in deference to the supertyphoon Yolanda/Haiyan crisis.
Still, a slew of trophy races will be held along with the MARHO’s flagship six championship races on November 21 and 24 at Santa Ana Park.
A certain amount per race has been set aside for the benefit of the victims of Yolanda. ***
