Rock of Gibraltar (IRE, 1999 bay horse, Danehill [USA]-Offshore Boom [IRE]), astonished the racing world with seven consecutive G1 wins, which earned him the nickname of “The Rock”. These seven races were: the Moulin de Longchamp (1600m) and the Grand Criterium (1400m) in France; the Irish 2000 Guineas (8F – 1600m) in Ireland; the British 2000 Guineas (8F), the Saint James’s Palace Stakes (8F), Sussex Stakes (8F), and Dewhurst (7F – 1400m) in the UK.
The Rock won five out of seven starts in France, Ireland, and the UK as a 2yo in 2001. He won five out of six in the same countries and the USA as a 3yo in 2002.
He became a sire in 2003, standing in Ireland and then Australia. He moved to Japan in 2007 to stand at the JBBA (Japan Bloodhorse Breeders’ Association) Shizunai Stallion Station in Hokkaido. He already has 120 mares booked.
