Magic Millions Sales in Australia, one of the preferred sources of thoroughbred bloodstock for buyers from around the world, will be having its famed National Sale in early June this year. One of its graduates is Sebring, winner of this year’s Golden Slipper Stakes, held April 19 at Rosehill.
Despite missing the start, Sebring (inside) unleashed a powerful finishing kick to nab Von Costa De Hero in a close finish to win the $3.5 million Golden Slipper Stakes, the world’s richest juvenile race.
Sebring is the sixth Magic Millions graduate in the last nine years to win the world’s richest race for two-year-olds, following in the hoofprints of Belle Du Jour, Ha Ha, Polar Success, Dance Hero, and Stratum.
This black-type victory cements Sebring’s reputation as Australia’s premier juvenile, remaining undefeated after four runs. A $130,000 purchase from the Golden Slipper’s premier thoroughbred sales company Magic Millions, Sebring (More Than Ready – Purespeed) has now earned a total of $2,153,000 in prize money.
“It’s absolutely fantastic that yet another Magic Millions graduate has won the Golden Slipper,” Magic Millions managing director David Chester said. “Magic Millions are the value sales company – this Slipper winner was $130,000 – what’s he worth now – at least $15 million!”
The National Sale, traditionally held mid-year, is a premiere source for champions such as Sebring. As for this year’s edition, this just in from Val Hayward of Magic Millions:
The Magic Millions National Sale held at the Gold Coast in June has been a happy hunting ground for Filipino buyers.
Because of the large number of mares, yearlings and racehorses catalogued, there is always good value to be had at this sale. It is now the largest sale of its type in the Southern Hemisphere. At the 2008 National Sale over 1000 mares, 700 yearlings and 100 racehorses have been catalogued.
The broodmares will be sold from the 4th – 6th of June with the 5th – 6th of June most suitable for Philippine buyers, where over 50% of the mares will sell from $1,000 to $20,000. Racehorses will also be offered on the 6th of June.
The 100 yearlings will be offered starting from the 10th of June and finishing on the 12th. Again over half the yearlings will sell from $2,000 to $20,000.
The National Sale is a great value sale and compares with similar sales in the USA and the lower shipping costs from Australia make this event a must for local buyers.
Buyers from the Philippines will again be well cared for by Magic Millions with complimentary transfers from the airport and the sale together with ringside dining and complimentary accommodation.
Well known and popular Australian Government Manila Austrade Representative Ancy Palma is coordinating the Magic Millions National Sale tour.
